Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 12/29/2023
Dec 29, 2023YouTube
I wish YouTube videos had a "Get To The Point" button. Just click the button and it would go straight to the important stuff. When I'm looking for information on how to replace a headlight on my car I don't need a seven minute lecture on the history of the 2011 Honda Pilot. I don't care. Tell me how to fix my car.
Year in Review
This newsletter is sent out every Friday to around 2,000 people. Almost half of you (around 42%) open it. This does not include a few hundred people who click from the social media posts. I'm excited to have such strong interest and I'll continue to push it out as long as someone is out there to enjoy it. Thank you all!
As always, feel free to reply with any feedback. Except for the mean stuff. My ego bruises like a peach.
Web site improvements to look forward to in 2024:
- I'll be adding individual pages for each town on the northern Outer Banks so visitors can get useful ideas for things to do and where to go.
- I'm in the process of writing more long-form blog posts I hope will be helpful to locals and visitors alike.
- I continue to add more t-shirt designs for my print-on-demand store. If there's something you like but want to see a minor change, let me know and maybe I can tweak the design for you. https://www.treasuresoftheouterbanks.com/merchandise
Podcast
The podcast continues to get traction and I'm planning to advertise it on Facebook. Hopefully, I'll see a jump in download numbers. I'm currently looking for companies to sponsor the show. Let me know if you'd like your business mentioned during the episodes.
Putting out a weekly show with new guests is not as easy as I'd thought. I'm constantly chasing down people and when they occasionally (and politely) turn me down I have to scramble and add another person to the list. Because of this I decided to put out an episode every other week. This is more realistic for me, especially during lacrosse season and Boat Butler season.
THINGS TO DO
New Year's Eve on the Beach
A good friend of mine, Jordan Lane, has a band called Hot Sauce 252 that is starting to gain a large following on the Outer Banks. They'll be playing Avalon Pier on 12/30, 8-11pm, Two Roads Tavern, 12/31, Noon-4pm, and The Roadside, 12/31, 7-10pm.
New Years Eve in Manteo
Live music, food, activities for kids, and fireworks bring in the new year in Downtown Manteo. Save yourself a late drive home and book a room ASAP.
Once again the people at Sanctuary Vineyards are doing a great job of getting you out of the house and over to Currituck County for some socializing, wine, and food.
Here's another opportunity to get out and shop local vendors at Dowdy Park in Nags Head.
