Neanderthals
A post from CNN.com says, "Most humans alive today can trace a very small percentage of their DNA to Neanderthals." I believe I may have more than a small percentage. Case in point, my drawings look like they came from a cave. I have three siblings and they each possess amazing artistic skills. My artwork looks like it was made by a monkey on cocaine. If you compared my current artwork with something I drew when I was five years-old you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. This doesn't bother me, by the way. But I do wish I could stop dragging my knuckles on the ground.
I've Got To Get One Of These
We are one step closer to my wife commuting to Norfolk by air.

Frisco Campground is my favorite campground on the Outer Banks.
10/21/23, Outer Banks Seafood Festival
Full disclosure: I've never been inside the festival but I used to rent parking spaces next door and I would casually survey a few of the visitors. The common theme I heard was that the event was over-priced and people had to wait in long lines to get food and beer. One man told me he could have spent his money more wisely by simply driving around town and popping in to a few restaurants. On the bright side, the weather looks good this year.
10/28/23, Blackbeard's Treasure with Kevin Duffus
According to Scott Dawson, Blackbeard's treasure doesn't exist because he spent it all before being captured and killed. Like my dad used to say, "Always keep your receipts." That should be the subtitle of the talk. Joking aside, it may be interesting to compare the two schools of thought.

How far do I have to run to burn off a bag of candy? 5k seems about right.
Be A Better Parent....Maybe
Here's an interesting podcast episode talking about parents who expose their kids to the outdoors. I can attest to this; don't ask your kids if they want to do something outdoors. Tell them.
TRAVEL
On Your Way To Wilmington, NC
If you need a refill for your coffee Riverview Cafe in Plymouth is a great place to stop. First, the cafe has an incredible 4.9 Google rating. Second, their dining room overlooks the Roanoke River. Third, they have amazing baked goods to go along with their sandwiches. Take a short detour off of 64 and check it out.
I know what you're thinking, there's nothing in Plymouth. But wait! There's a small historic section on the river that a few bold business people are trying to prop up. It's worth checking out.
Wilmington Traffic
I despise the traffic in Wilmington. If I had to live there I would find a place centrally located and sell my car. It's the only way I would be happy.
Where To Eat In Wilmington
Bonefish Grill
I don't get out much so I didn't know this place was part of a franchise. If I had I may have avoided it. Good thing I didn't. The food is amazing. White table cloths, large bar, free bread, and professional wait staff. Very well run, top to bottom.
