Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 9/22/2023
Sep 22, 2023THINGS TO DO
9/23/2023, National Public Lands Day
Unfortunately, on the Outer Banks, this coincides with a tropical storm warning which at the moment is providing high winds and copious rain. This means our local national parks are most likely closed on Saturday. If you're fortunate enough to be somewhere dryer, knock yourself out and see if you can find a National Park with free admission or a special activity.
9/23/2023, 12th Annual Bluegrass Island Music Festival
Roanoke Island Festival Park is a great venue for music. Unfortunately, it's entirely exposed to the elements and I'm not sure if they'll be able to get the Saturday shows off the ground.
10/7-8/2023, Duck Jazz Festival
This musical event is a great opportunity to enjoy jazz outdoors in the beautiful Town of Duck. Be sure to make it a full weekend experience and visit the many amazing places to eat and shop in Duck.
If you need a place to stay, please use this link to find a great room or house. Small print: Should you purchase anything with this link, I may receive a small commission. Cheers! https://vrbo.com/affiliates/treasuresoftheouterbanks/jazzweekendinduck
10/7/2023, Crabdaddy Seafood & Wine Festival
Crabs? Beer? Wine? Music? TAKE MY MONEY!
Once again, Sanctuary Vineyards is putting on a stellar event at the winery in Jarvisburg. Buy your tickets early.
10/14/2023, Corolla Wild Horse Fund Open House
Want to learn about the Corolla Wild Horses and what happens when they need help? Come out to the farm for this special open house and stimulate your olfactory system with the sweet smell of manure.
10/21/2023, Southern Shores Fall Community Yard Sale
Is there anything better than cleaning out your garage just to create space so you can go to a yard sale and buy someone else's junk? Welp, here you go. A cheaper way of doing this is waiting for the Southern Shores Large Item Pick-up Day, also in October.
Nags Head Beach Driving Permit, On Sale Now
Speaking of which, here's a good video about driving on the beach in Nags Head.
Whatever you do, don't wind up on the Oregon Inlet Idiot Facebook Page.
Have a Great Weekend,
John Van Lunen
