Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 8/24/2024
Aug 24, 2024True Story:
In Plymouth, North Carolina there's a funeral home called Toodles. I'm disappointed they're not leaning in to this. The advertising potential could be unlimited.
Trio Restaurant
I'm not a regular but Trio Restaurant is a local treasure we enjoy for an occasional adult beverage. Recently, an Outer Banks visitor posted on a Facebook community group imploring people to not patronize this establishment. The reason? The visitor purchased beer and put it in her car where it exploded all over the interior. The replies may not have gone the direction she had expected. Locals came out in force to defend Trio's fine owner. I tried finding the original post but I think it was pulled down by the customer. I did, however, find a review on Yelp that looks suspiciously familiar.
Food is delicious, but DON'T BUY BEER. On two different occasions, we've had the beer cans from there, explode all over our car. Other than refunding, they did little to make it right. I had to ask for cloth to clean the mess out of my car.

If you're looking for a great wine and beer selection, be sure to stop by Trio in Kitty Hawk. Sorry, no car detailing at this time.
Rodanthe House
Another oceanfront house in Rodanthe was swept away be the ocean last week. If I lived and played in the ocean anywhere near this neighborhood I would be livid. Why does common sense not exist when we know a house is destined to be washed to sea? It's the second largest body of water in the world. Did we think it was always going to play nice?
Wille Nelson Has Zero Singing Talent
And, yet, I can't stop listening to him. It makes no sense.
I have this song with Ray Charles on repeat.
Phone Chargers
When I'm traveling I always bring a portable charger for my phone. Anker is my go-to manufacturer for cell phone accessories. Don't waste time and money on cheaper versions that will probably end up in a trash can after a few months. You want something that will do the job quickly and last a long time. Anker products are made for the long haul.
NY Times Wirecutter recommends the Anker PowerPort III Nano, but you may need something more specific for your application.
If you want the smallest power brick available that’ll charge your phone at the fastest speeds, we recommend the single-port Anker PowerPort III Nano. It’s the same size as Apple’s 5-watt charger (the one that Apple used to include in iPhone boxes), and it supplies up to 20 W over USB-C.
That’s enough power to charge most phones—whether you have an iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy model, a Google Pixel handset, or some other Android phone with fast-charging capabilities—more than halfway full in just 30 minutes. This model also powers Apple’s MagSafe wireless charging system at its maximum 15 W.
