Self-Control

The self-control I see among visitors on the Outer Banks is amazing. For example, last Sunday I saw a young lady and her son walking away from Duck Donuts at the Outer Banks Mall. They were at least a quarter mile away! The donuts were probably still warm! How is this possible?! Under my care those donuts would have never made it past the parking lot. Guaranteed.

"Hey, Dad, what happened to the donuts you said you were going to get?"

"Craziest thing. I was held-up at knife point and all they asked for were the donuts. I'm ok, though. Not hungry anymore, just a little shaken."

New Coffee Shop Opening Soon

I don't know many of the details but with the popularity of Starbucks just a mile away, I think the demand is strong enough for another coffee shop. Shore Coffee Roasters will be occupying the space last used by Coastal Provisions.

Blackbeard

Due to Blackbeard's connection with the Outer Banks I thought I'd enjoy National Geographic's documentary, Pirates: Behind the Legends. The Tale of Blackbeard. I didn't learn anything new except that in the early 1700s the Outer Banks had rocky coasts. What happened to all the rocks since then?

Obviously I'm being sarcastic, but it's National Geographic! You're (Nat Geo) the link between science and the general public. You have your own channel. Don't be cheap by using B-role from the west coast. Represent the area more realistically.

Going In To Debt By Traveling

It sounds like some young people are going to be in for a rude awakening when it's time to buy a car or house.
