What's The Deal With Rental Cars?

I was almost happy to read that I'm not the only person to get the run-around from rental agencies.

It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when the rental company does the same thing with Jerry's reservation. Over 30 years and nothing has changed with the industry's business plan.

The Secret To A Happy Vacation

https://wapo.st/4cgxlzL

Mistake #1: Over-planning a vacation.

Having worked in the hospitality business for 25 years I was always a little surprised how organized some vacationers were. As the company's communications evolved over time I was able to answer more questions during the off-season. Case in point, I would occasionally get calls and the person would tell me they were planning their entire week....four months in-advance. The primary problem with this plan is that so many of the activities on the Outer Banks rely on weather. Good weather. I would usually tell the person they should wait until they get in to town (or just a few days prior), look at the forecast, and plan accordingly. Yes, I believe it's good to have several choices in your back pocket to give you an outline of things to do. No, your friends and family will not appreciate a micro-manager telling them what to do every minute of the day.

Song I Have On Repeat

Like a Hurricane, by Neil Young

Something about the organ gives this song an ominous feel and incredible depth.

Must See TV

I'm a big Springsteen fan but I don't know much about Stevie Van Zandt. Watching this trailer has drawn me in to find out more.

Favorite Mile Post

Do you have a favorite mile post? Mile post eleven brings back memories of the first summer I spent here, living a semi-bohemian lifestyle of windsurfing and watersports. It was a romantic summer of getting married, hanging out at the beach, and exploring while my friends back home were holding down "real" jobs. Suckers!
