Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 6/14/2024
Jun 14, 2024Hey, Where'd Everybody Go?
Going in to the COVID summer (2020) was an uncertain time for many Outer Banks businesses. Personally, I was coming off a lean 2019 and wasn't sure if my business would survive a major setback. Fortunately for me the visitors flooded the OBX, which was followed by an almost equally prosperous 2021. With the Outer Banks increasing in popularity many people in the community felt this was the new normal.
Having talked to a few business owners in the last month there is a feeling that maybe we're back to normal. May has returned to being a trickle of visitors who don't spend a lot of money and not until school ended has there been a significant bump in traffic. If this trend continues we won't see a big increase in tourists until July 4.
That being said, June has been beautiful so far and the ocean is at a great temperature.

Evening and Full Moon Climbs at Bodie Island Lighthouse
Bodie Island Lighthouse is a beautiful structure located on the south end of Nags Head just before Oregon Inlet. Its setting makes for an idyllic view over the ocean, sound, and wetlands.
Did Somebody Say Shark?
This is a recent photo of a shark in Corolla made more interesting when you notice its size relative to the swimmers and its proximity to them.
