This is a big reminder for me to get my end of life plans in order.
Instructions:
First, make sure I’m dead.
Second, really make sure I’m dead.
On the other hand, if I tell you to leave me alone, leave me alone.
Backyard Pizza Party
Over the holiday weekend I was invited to a backyard party with make-your-pizzas. The host provided the dough and all the toppings. Then he popped each creation in to his outdoor pizza oven for a couple of minutes and, voila, hot pizza. It‘s a cool concept and it’s fun.
Here are some highly recommended options if you’d like to host your own party. Side note: I am available at a moments notice for parties and tastings.

Beach Boys, 6/15/24
When I saw my friends at Vusic OBX (https://vusicobx.com/) had booked The Beach Boys I was a little skeptical, but I Googled a recent concert of theirs and I think this event on the Outer Banks is going to be great. With the Roanoke Sound as a backdrop, Festival Park is a perfect venue for these guys.
Father's Day Gift Ideas
I’m pretty cheap. If the guy you're buying a gift for is anything like me maybe he wouldn’t spend a ton of money on something nice. For example, I like nice boardshorts. Unfortunately, they are way too expensive. A gift certificate would give me the green light and I might be obligated to buy some nice trunks.
Here's an idea for an activity dad might enjoy. Set up a relaxing time to sit on the back porch/deck and have a drink. Get rid of the bugs, have something comfortable to sit on, buy his favorite drink, and have something to eat.

Then again, tickets to a VusicOBX concert could also be a hit.
Ditch The Drop-off Line At School
As a former P.E. teacher and someone who likes to hop on a bike and run errands, this is a great idea.
I'm Still Standing
When it comes to song remakes I'm very opinionated. They're either great or complete trash. This Joni Mitchell (with Annie Lennox and Brandi Carlile!) version of "I'm Still Standing" is great. When I watch the video I can tell Mitchell is singing from the heart and using the song to tell her own story. At the same time she honors Elton John by taking a great song and adapting it to her current energy and skill-set. While listening to it you come away appreciating her resilience as a creator and performer.

When you consider how much she has changed due to an aneurysm, her ability to adapt and thrive is inspirational. Watch the "Big Yellow Taxi" video to get a better appreciation.
