Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 5/31/2024
May 31, 2024Lacrosse Championship Weekend
Confession: I'm a lacrosse junkie. Before I moved to the Outer Banks and became an owner of a watersports business I used to go to the NCAA Lacrosse Championship weekend every chance I could. Obviously, running a seasonal business during a busy summer holiday got in the way and I haven't attended in over 26 years. Until this past weekend.
My wife and I escaped the crowded Outer Banks for the Memorial Day Weekend to watch the games at crowded Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The last time we went the games were held at a large university venue and I was a little skeptical a pro stadium would capture the games as I had remembered. Anxiety assuaged. The NCAA did a great job of setting up a fan-friendly environment and the stadium is great. It didn't hurt that I paid a little extra to sit in club level seats. The air conditioning in the Club Lounge was worth the extra money and the food, albeit extremely expensive, was very good.
Something new I experienced at the stadium was a Philly Roast Pork Sandwich. Ingredients: Herb Roasted Pork, Wild Arugula, Cherry Pepper Relish, Sharp Provolone Cheese Sauce on an Amoroso Seeded Roll. This sandwich is amazing. After a couple bites I'm thinking to myself, "Why couldn't you use pork BBQ to make this sandwich?" To the lab/kitchen!
Song On Repeat
We've all heard this song, but watching it being played on the piano is mesmerizing. I could watch this video all day.
Cut The Line To Hell
Eddie Murphy used to have a stand-up routine about the man who attempted to assassinate the Pope. The punchline was something about being able to cut the line when you got to the pearly gates. "You shot the Pope? Come up here. You're next." This man who shot his mom and killed a dog may be on a similar path.
Count Me In
A poll shows that most people hate the name Washington Commanders. I agree. I've never liked it. And what's the mascot? A cartoonish pig wearing a helmet?! Th-th-th-that's all folks.
