Three Hots and a Cot = Retirement?

While growing up TV would portray drug addicts as young people who made bad decisions and lived on the streets.  A couple weeks ago officers surveilled and arrested individuals from a house in Currituck County.  Two of these guys are creeping up on retirement age!  This makes me question their long-term goals.
A conversation with one of these guys might be something like, "You know, Bob, I'm thinking I can work just enough to get my weekly fix of meth and when I'm ready I'll retire to a nice little 10x10 cell somewhere out in the country. Somebody making meals for me, no yard work, and free cable!"

Just Opened

The new Sea Chef Dockside Kitchen at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center opened on Wednesday.  Although I haven't been able to visit yet I think this will be a great addition to the marina and South Nags Head.  According to the article, the ship's store and booking desk will be relocated to the first floor of the new building.  The old building will eventually be razed.

Whip-Poor-Wills on the Outer Banks

(This may only interest me.)
As the head coach for the First Flight boys lacrosse team we often get back to school very late due to several of our games being four hours away. Because our locker room is literally adjacent to the Run Hill State Natural Area I'll receive the treat of hearing Whip-Poor-Wills once a year if I'm lucky. This video is a recording I took Thursday morning around 1:00am. Make sure your volume is up.

Things To Do

4/26/24, Let's Dance OBX

Be sure to consult with your health provider before learning any new dance moves.

Pick Your Own Strawberries

This little place doesn't have a business name or a web site. The only sign you'll see on the right hand side of the highway after you cross the Wright Memorial Bridge is "Strawberries, Open". You'll have to trust me that it's a great place.

Memorial Day Weekend

The unofficial start to summer is coming up and people will be trekking to the Outer Banks. Use this link to reserve a place to stay. Enjoy!
