You Want To Be In College How Long?
A college football player has requested, and been granted, a 9th year of football. Quick lesson: Once a student-athlete steps in to a college classroom he/she has 5 academic years to play 4 years of a sport. The NCAA will grant extra years for special hardship cases. Almost every student-athlete during the pandemic was given an extra year. However, the article doesn't ask the big question. How many degrees does this guy have? For comparison, my wife received her PhD after 8 years of higher education. Had Cam McCormick played his cards right, he could be a tenured faculty by now. Enough is enough. Get a job.
What I'm NOT Eating Right Now
:Ratio, Keto Friendly Chocolate Brownies
Confession: I love brownies with walnuts. Lots of walnuts. When I saw a box of walnut covered brownie snacks that are supposed to be healthy, well, sign me up. I bought the box and raced home to give them a try. I tried one. The rest are in a landfill somewhere. I hope they don't sprout in to a disgusting Brownie Tree and spread that horrible taste all over the countryside.
P.S.: Nowhere on the box does it say they taste good. I should have read the box instead of getting enticed by a fancy picture.
Self-Checkout Anyone?
I keep seeing articles on what a monumental failure self-checkout has become. They obviously haven't asked me. I love self-checkout. Regular checkout is like going to your grandmother's house. (Do I have to say "hi" to her?) The only annoying thing about self-checkout is when I'm buying beer (which may be more frequent than I'd like to admit). All of the checkout assistants seem to disappear just as I'm scanning my beer and the machine wants proof that I'm 58. As if the old shoe-like face isn't enough evidence.
Unfortunately, We Can't Duck The Traffic
As if the traffic in Duck wasn't bad enough (thank the cross-walks), they will be shutting down a lane for most of late winter/early spring to make improvements. They say it will be completed by mid-May which means it will definitely be under construction for Memorial Weekend. I don't see any problems with this plan.
THINGS TO DO
American Tune: Simon, Croce, and Taylor
I grew up listening to a lot of Jim Croce, so this got my attention. In addition, the auditorium at First Flight High School is a nice venue.
