Ready for an Outer Banks Weekend, 1/5/24

Reminder: In case you forgot, Duck Donuts are really awesome.
I'm not a Krispy Kreme fan and Dunkin' Donuts are a bit generic, like eating a hamburger at McDonald's. Duck Donuts, on the other hand, are made to order, best when they are hot, and 100% decadent. Ten years from now when I'm lying on the ground suffering from a heart attack, just whisper in my ear that it was from Duck Donuts. To which I will smile and admit it was totally worth it. Better to die from a donut than dementia.
Call first, they may be closed for the winter.

Book I'm Reading
The Art of Possibility:  Transforming Professional and Personal Life, by Rosamond Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander.
I have to admit that the introduction in the book almost lost me due to boredom, but I endured.  It was worth pushing through because the messages and stories the Zanders provide are very insightful and educating.  There are strong and meaningful lessons on mindset, perceptions, and contributions.  A book that actually makes you stop and think.

Bangkok Thai Sushi
My daughter is a serial restaurant tester and she let me tag-a-long with her to Bangkok Thai Sushi in Duck, NC.  This place is excellent.  Located at the back of Scarborough Faire Shopping Village, Bangkok Thai Sushi makes incredible sushi along with other Asian dishes.  The friendly staff serve you in a clean and well maintained restaurant.  You can sit in the dining room or eat at the bar and watch the artisans work their craft in front of you.  Carry-out is also available, but I recommend getting the full experience.

As I was leaving Bangkok Thai Sushi I was admiring the overall feel and layout of the Scarborough Faire Shopping Village.  I've been there before, but as I've seen other development on the Outer Banks I appreciate Scarborough Faire even more.  It's perfectly set in the trees of Duck with little boardwalks that connect all the shops.  It's exactly how a small shopping center on the Outer Banks should look.

Spring Break?
Now that the winter holidays are out of the way, let start thinking about Spring Break!
Spoiler Alert:  The ocean is going to be freezing cold and the weather is going to be very hit or miss.  Usually more miss, than hit. That doesn't mean you can't get out of Dodge for a few days and enjoy some peace and quiet on the Outer Banks.  Spring time on the Outer Banks is a great opportunity to walk around the great towns we have; like Manteo, Duck, and Corolla.  We still have several museums to see and there are always great trails to hike.

If you're coming with a large group I would recommend a rental house with a great game room and an outdoor hot tub.  You can find a ton of choices with this link.
