dowdy park farm market hot dogs kite boarding meg rubino picnic Jun 23, 2023
Things To Do
A picnic next to a runway. Hmmm, let me think about that one.

Dowdy Park Farmer's Market, June 15 through August 17, from 9 am. until 1 pm.
Spoiler Alert:  It's highly likely you will not see a farmer.
Be sure to check out my friend, Meg Rubino (not a farmer), who has a great booth of watercolor artwork.

Never Too Old
Am I the only person who wants to meet the 80 year-old kite surfer?  It seems the national media missed a great story on this one.  I hope his recovery goes well and he gets back on the water soon.
If you want to see more elderly kite boarders check out this video about a man in England.  https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1785755988393493

Clean-Up On 158
If it were beer dropped on the by-pass I guarantee it would have been cleaned up in record time.

Hot Dogs
Consumer Reports posted their list of best hotdogs and their top, two finishers were Nathan's Famous Skinless Beef Franks and Hebrew National Beef Franks.  I'm a big Nathan's fan so I can't argue with that.  Unfortunately, and probably due to their limited distribution, Sahlen's Hot Dogs were not even considered. I grew an affection to these dogs while living in Buffalo, NY. You can buy them on the Outer Banks at Publix and Harris Teeter. They are best when grilled and cooked just short of burnt.

Patreon
Finally, if you want to support Treasures of the Outer Banks and its podcast you can buy me a cup of coffee.  If you can't buy me a cup of coffee you can make a small donation of $5/month.  In return I'll send you a monthly video of life on the Outer Banks and for first time members I'll send you a Treasures of the Outer Banks sticker.  As always, you can reach out to me for questions or advice regarding the Outer Banks.
Cheers!

Have a Great Weekend,
John Van Lunen
