College, Oliver Anthony, Photography Day, Free Admission, 8/18/23
Aug 18, 2023What's Happening
My wife and I dropped off our youngest at college yesterday. We also left a large sum of money. Which reminded me that there was a day when I used to complain about the price of diapers. This rise in cost didn't happen overnight. It's been 18 years of gradual upgrades.
Live Music and a Meteoric Rise
This may only interest me, but this story is a little fascinating. There's a young man named Oliver Anthony from Farmville, VA, who has become a viral, music sensation. His big hit is a song called, "Rich Men North of Richmond", and is currently the #1 downloaded song on iTunes. I'm not a huge country music fan, but this guy wrote a really good song and sings it with incredible energy. His music videos are quaint, homemade recordings (using a cell phone?), usually outdoors and sometimes with a dog.
Last Sunday he played an informal, outdoor concert at Morris Farm Market in Currituck County that drew around 5,000 people in sweltering heat.

If you want to hop on the bandwagon he'll be playing Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Moyock, NC. Get there early. He tends to draw a crowd.

Here's another opportunity to enter the Wright Brothers National Memorial for free. Friendly reminder, 8/19 is also free.

Not that we need extra motivation, but , sure, let's celebrate a day at the beach.
