Yesterday ended a seven day stretch of driving, socializing, lacrosse, and touring.
  • 5/26- Drove solo from Southern Shores to Wilmington, Delaware.
  • 5/27- Watched a high school lacrosse game at Wilmington Friends. Met Nick Redd who plays for the Maryland Terrapins. Later, watched (TV) Notre Dame win in OT against UVA in NCAA semi-finals.
  • 5/28- Drove from Wilmington to Vermont to deliver furniture and personal belongings to my daughter's new apartment. Serendipitously found the Harpoon Brewery and enjoyed drinking beer outdoors in 90 degree weather. Highly recommend the brewery and the weather.
  • 5/29- Drove from Vermont to Southern Shores. Watched the NCAA championship lacrosse game on my smart phone while it was propped on the dashboard. Notre Dame won.
  • 5/30- Walked the dogs for the first time in a few days and wondered why there were so many cars on Dogwood Trail. Remembered that it was post-Memorial Day Weekend and the summer season had begun. Then I realized that I had just missed my first Memorial Day Weekend on the Outer Banks in 25 years!
  • After a little recovery, catching up on emails, and re-packing; Bonnie, Cam, and myself drove to Durham for an All Star lacrosse game Cam was invited to play and I had the opportunity to coach. Checked in to a very cool AirBNB with a rooftop deck. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/689870936457233470
  • 5/31- Walked around downtown Durham and saw Durham Bulls stadium. Went out to lunch with an old friend who introduced me to some of his former lacrosse players. That evening coached the lacrosse senior All Star game at Koskinen Stadium, Duke University. Amazing experience in a wonderful setting.
  • 6/1- Drove home to Southern Shores. Exhausted.

Worst Article Ever Written Regarding the Outer Banks
I often stumble upon articles/blogs regarding the Outer Banks. I usually give them a quick read to see if there's anything interesting.  I realize that each week I will probably have one or two spelling and/or grammar errors, but this article is loaded with them and at the same time shamelessly tries to wedge in every SEO keyword possible. On top of that, the inaccuracies reek of shameless ignorance. I highly question if the writer has been to any of these beaches.

From the post:
The best beaches in North Carolina aren’t necessarily what the state is immediately associated with.

Really? He must not have seen some of our Best Beach awards from these reputable periodicals.

More from the post:
Nags Head features a long, pleasurable boardwalk next to rows of multi-colored condominiums, adding a splash of bright colors to the overall aesthetic.

Breaking News: Nags Head has a boardwalk!
Fact Check: The Outer Banks has no oceanfront boardwalks.

More of the same:
The Kitty Hawk Woods Coastal Reserve is an excellent place to break in a new pair of hiking shoes and it comes with the authenticity only one of the oldest and largest maritime forests in the region can offer.

When you go to the AllTrails app or website you will repeatedly see weak reviews of the trails system in the Kitty Hawk Woods Coastal Reserve. Don't waste your time. Instead, check out the Nags Head Woods Preserve. https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/nags-head-woods-ecological-preserve/?vu=r.v_nhw

White Zombie, Catawba Brewing Co.
This is a good year-round beer with a subtle taste of hops and hints of fruit.
