Block or Charge?
As a young man I would go to Baltimore Orioles games and if a fan caught a foul ball the PA announcer would say, "Give that fan a contract." If I were the women's basketball coach at Ohio State I would be offering a scholarship to the woman who steam-rolled Caitlin Clark (Iowa) while storming the court after the Ohio State upset.  The fan fell down, hopped back up, and continued celebrating while Clark resembled a pile of dirty laundry lying on the court.    Seriously, though, as one of the best college basketball players in the country, Caitlin Clark spends the whole game avoiding and manipulating highly trained defenses and after the final whistle she gets taken out by a fan who doesn't even know who she ran over?
Final Score:  Out-of-Shape co-ed = 1, Elite Division I athlete = 0.

Hide Your Picnic Baskets
Let's not over-think this.  Maybe the bear just wanted to avoid the summer crowds and enjoy what Ocracoke has to offer.

THINGS TO DO
2/18/24, 10th Annual Chili Cook-Off
A perfect way to warm your insides with some great chili.

Hatteras Lighthouse Restoration
Having been shut down to visitors for over a year due to structural reasons, the park service has hired a contractor to restore and rehabilitate these problems.  Expect repairs to last over 18 months.

Bugs!
As if the spiders, mosquitoes, fuzzy bills, and green heads weren't enough, we may have a new plague bug this summer on the Outer Banks.

Spring Break
It's not too early to plan a spring getaway on the Outer Banks.
Even if the ocean is too cold for swimming there are still a lot of great things you can do.
  • See the Wright Brothers Monument
  • Hike Nags Head Woods
  • Visit a distillery or winery (Sanctuary Vineyard, Buffalo City Distillery, Kill Devil Rum)
  • Climb a lighthouse (Currituck, Bodie)
  • Tour a museum (Frisco Native American Museum, Pea Island Cookhouse, etc.)
